The Gold Rush is when you mine for Gold at the Goldfields to find Gold. This included places such as Bathurst, Beechworth, Broken Hill, Ballarat and Geelong. The Australian gold rushes were periods of significant migration of workers, both locally and from overseas, to areas which have discoveries of gold deposits. The Gold rush was where you mine for gold to get thousands of dollars.
